On the morning of the 8th June 2014, Paul Titcomb of Portishead was erecting a small gazebo in his garden. He had wanted somewhere to sit in shelter from the elements whilst he waited for his racing pigeons to come home from the races, and on that day, the National Flying Club had liberated the pigeons in Cholet, France, at 6:45am in a light west wind after a one day hold over due to thunderstorms. To enable the smooth operation of the biggest club in the UK a huge team of volunteers run the marking stations, from the north of the country to the south. Thursday the 5th June ’14 was the marking day for the National Flying Club race from Cholet, France, in which my wife and I had entered ten pigeons.
